Gastroenterologist: Women often put off colonoscopy

About 40% of at-risk women put off getting a colonoscopy to screen for colon cancer, often because they do not believe they are at risk, writes Dr. Doug Kliewer, a Tulsa gastroenterologist who is part of the physician group. He writes that women over age 50 are at risk of CRC based on age alone but only 50% of women or fewer obtain a colonoscopy, even after being referred for testing. Tulsa World (Okla.) (5/23)
